Bellingham Reaches 50-Goal Milestone as Real Madrid Crush Racing Santander
Jude Bellingham reached a major career milestone after scoring his 50th goal for Real Madrid in a convincing 3-0 victory over Racing Santander in the Spanish La Liga.
The England international produced an impressive performance on Sunday, November 1, as Real Madrid continued their winning momentum following their important El Clásico victory over Barcelona.
Real Madrid made a strong start to the encounter, taking the lead in the 11th minute when Kylian Mbappé converted a penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after Matteo Prati brought down the French forward inside the penalty area.
Bellingham doubled the advantage in the 21st minute with an outstanding individual effort. Collecting the ball around the halfway line, the midfielder drove towards goal before cleverly lifting it over the advancing goalkeeper and calmly finishing into an unguarded net.
The goal marked his 50th in all competitions since joining the Spanish giants from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.
The 23-year-old has now reached the milestone in 154 appearances for the club, further establishing himself as one of Real Madrid’s important attacking players.
Real Madrid extended their advantage before the interval when Yan Diomande volleyed home in the 36th minute following a poorly cleared corner.
Despite creating further opportunities after the break, the visitors were unable to add to their three-goal advantage. Mbappé came particularly close in the 59th minute, but his curling effort struck the post.
Bellingham also appeared to have scored a second goal late in the contest, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
Racing Santander briefly threatened to reduce the deficit after being awarded a late penalty. However, the decision was overturned following a VAR review, which determined that the ball had deflected off Aurélien Tchouaméni’s boot before striking his hand.
Alexander-Arnold handed rare starting opportunity
Another major talking point was the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold to the starting line-up.
The former Liverpool defender was given a rare opportunity by manager José Mourinho, having struggled to secure a regular starting position since joining Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold showed glimpses of his attacking quality early in the match, delivering a promising cut-back for Arda Güler. However, Güler was unable to convert the opportunity as his effort curled narrowly wide.
The England defender has started just five of Real Madrid’s 14 matches this season, with Federico Valverde and Denzel Dumfries also featuring in the right-back position.
The victory extended Real Madrid’s winning run to five matches in all competitions and kept them within three points of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
For Bellingham, however, the evening was particularly special. His 50-goal achievement underlines his growing influence at the Spanish club, while Alexander-Arnold’s appearance could provide an important opportunity to fight for a more regular place in Mourinho’s plans.
