Empress Gifty Defends Florence Obinim Over BBL Criticism

Published

on

Gospel musician Empress Gifty has defended fellow musician Florence Obinim against social media criticism following speculation about her physical appearance, questioning why some people have resorted to mocking her over rumours that she has undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

In a video shared on social media on November 1, 2026, Empress Gifty expressed disappointment over comments directed at Florence after she attended a public programme, where some social media users speculated that she had undergone cosmetic surgery.

She particularly questioned why some of the harshest remarks came from women, arguing that people should understand the physical and emotional challenges associated with surgical procedures before ridiculing others.

“Florence Obinim went for a programme, and when you read the comments, people were talking about BBL. What is even more disappointing is that some of the comments came from women. Do you even have the courage to enter the theatre?” she asked.

Empress Gifty, who has undergone surgical procedures herself, described the experience of entering an operating theatre as frightening, explaining that patients often experience anxiety because of the risks involved.

Comparing the experience to surgical childbirth, she stressed that undergoing an operation is not something people should make light of.

“All of us who have entered the theatre have spirits. As you are about to enter, you will just be panicking. Ask those who have given birth in the theatre; it’s between life and death,” she said.

She also cautioned social media users against directing their personal frustrations at celebrities, noting that public figures equally face challenges despite their fame and public visibility.

“We’re not responsible for your happiness. Don’t bring your frustrations on any celebrities because the celebrities also have problems,” she added.

Beyond defending Florence Obinim, Empress Gifty opened up about her own cosmetic procedures and challenged people to respect the decisions others make about their bodies and finances.

The gospel musician disclosed that she had booked another dental appointment after previously spending $1,200 on treatment. She revealed that the new procedure is expected to cost approximately $8,000.

Explaining her decision, Empress Gifty said she wants to improve her ability to chew meat properly, insisting that her choice is based on personal comfort rather than public expectations.

“Don’t try to ridicule the person for what she used her money and strength for. I’ve booked an appointment to fix my teeth again, and it cost $1,200 initially, but the one I want to do now costs about $8,000,” she disclosed.

“I want to fix it so that I can chew meat properly, and that’s what I want to do with my money,” she added.

She further argued that people have different spending priorities, with some choosing to buy clothes and jewellery while others invest in property and other interests.

“Someone will use their money for dresses, another person will buy gold necklaces, while someone else will use theirs to buy cement. Allow people to do what they want with their money, and as for me, I don’t listen to anybody anymore,” she stated.

Empress Gifty also revealed that she had undergone breast reduction surgery after previously having a larger bust.

According to her, she conducted extensive research before the procedure, particularly on how to maintain skin firmness and prevent sagging following weight loss.

“When you all knew me, I used to have big breasts, but now, I’ve made them small. I didn’t want my breasts to sag after the surgery, so I did a lot of research to make my skin firm after the weight loss,” she revealed.

She maintained that people should not be judged for choosing cosmetic procedures, particularly when they have the financial means and are comfortable with their decisions.

The musician, however, urged individuals considering cosmetic surgery to conduct thorough research and seek professional medical advice before proceeding.

She advised prospective patients to consult qualified practitioners and undergo counselling to understand the possible risks, benefits, recovery process and precautions associated with the procedures.

“Whenever you want to do something, do proper research and go to the right people who have learnt and have knowledge about what you are about to do. Go for counselling so they can educate you on the dos and don’ts before you decide whether to proceed or not. Do you know what people go through?” she asked.

Ned Nwoko warns bloggers over false death reports about Regina Daniels, threatens legal action

Published

on

Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to the public, particularly fans and friends of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, to give her space to recover, warning that individuals spreading false information about her could face legal action.

Nwoko appealed in a statement shared on his Instagram page, expressing concern over the circulation of fabricated death announcements, misleading reports and hurtful content about the actress.

He said his appeal was not only for Daniels but also for their children, who deserve to see their mother supported and given every opportunity to recover.

“I want to make a sincere appeal to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to please give Regina some breathing space,” he stated.

The senator said Daniels had been through a lot and needed love, support and an opportunity to heal rather than public criticism and judgment.

“Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover,” he said.

Nwoko also referenced a video Daniels shared on her birthday, explaining that it offered a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been dealing with.

He stressed that her situation should not become an opportunity for people to judge or vilify her.

The lawmaker further stated that Daniels’ well-being had always been important to him, adding that concerns about her welfare contributed to his decision to make certain aspects of their private situation public.

He expressed particular concern over reports falsely announcing the actress’s death, as well as other misleading claims about her health and personal circumstances.

“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.

Nwoko urged the actress’s fans and supporters to discourage the circulation of such reports instead of amplifying them.

He also cautioned bloggers and social media users against deliberately publishing false information about Daniels, particularly claims concerning her death, health and personal life.

“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels,” he warned.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie commissions 12-room guest lodge at GTEC

Published

on

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has commissioned a 12-room guest lodge at the premises of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) in Accra, describing the facility as an important addition to Ghana’s hospitality infrastructure.

The facility is designed to provide accommodation and meeting spaces for GTEC stakeholders as well as members of the general public.

It is expected to support various institutional activities, including official engagements, conferences, workshops, retreats, meetings and other programmes, while improving accommodation options for visitors who use the Commission’s facilities.

In a statement shared after the commissioning, Ms Gomashie said the project aligns with the government’s broader objective of strengthening Ghana’s hospitality infrastructure and improving service delivery to make the country a more competitive destination for both domestic and international visitors.

She stressed that efforts to attract more visitors to Ghana must be supported by adequate accommodation facilities and quality hospitality services that meet the expectations of tourists and other visitors.

According to the minister, developing the country’s tourism sector requires investments in facilities and services that can provide visitors with comfortable and convenient experiences.

Ms Gomashie also used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians to embrace and promote their cultural identity by patronising locally made clothing and other cultural products.

She emphasised the importance of supporting indigenous products as part of efforts to preserve and promote Ghanaian culture.

In his welcome address, GTEC Director-General, Professor Jinapor, said the newly commissioned guest lodge would help reduce the Commission’s dependence on commercially rented accommodation for faculty members.

He described the project as an investment in staff welfare and institutional standards, noting that it would provide a more convenient accommodation arrangement for faculty members and other stakeholders engaged in the Commission’s activities.

Professor Jinapor added that the facility would also demonstrate GTEC’s commitment to improving its operations, enhancing the welfare of its staff and providing better support for its stakeholders.

The commissioning marks an addition to the accommodation and hospitality facilities available within the Commission’s premises in Accra.

Teephlow shocked by continued failure to win TGMA Best Rapper award

Published

on

Ghanaian rapper Teephlow has expressed surprise over his failure to win the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Rapper of the Year award despite receiving multiple nominations in the category.

The rapper says he finds it difficult to understand how he has consistently earned nominations but has yet to win the prestigious title.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Teephlow explained that he does not usually keep track of his previous nominations or make music with awards in mind. However, he finds it surprising that he remains the only artiste among those nominated alongside him who has never won the category.

“I can say one thing I’m surprised about is the fact that, of all the people who have been nominated, I’m the only one who hasn’t won Best Rapper before. And it’s almost shocking if you really think about it,” he said.

He questioned whether his record suggested that he had somehow fallen short of the standards expected of a Rapper of the Year winner, although he indicated that he no longer allows the situation to bother him.

Teephlow also used the interview to raise concerns about the criteria used to determine winners in the Rapper of the Year category.

He argued that streaming numbers should not be the sole measure of an artiste’s lyrical ability or contribution to the music industry.

According to him, the award should consider an artiste’s overall body of work, lyrical prowess, the quality of their music, the messages conveyed through their songs and the impact they have on listeners.

He further proposed that the TGMA consider establishing separate judging panels for technical categories such as Rapper of the Year and broader categories such as Artiste of the Year.

Teephlow explained that the two categories require different levels of expertise and approaches to assessment, making it important for judges to have the necessary understanding of what each award represents.

He added that he would welcome the opportunity to contribute to discussions on improving the awards process if invited to join a team responsible for shaping the judging criteria.

Teephlow Credits Hammer With Shaping His Songwriting Skills

Published

on

Rapper Teephlow has described his association with legendary music producer Hammer of the Last Two as a defining moment in his career, saying the experience played a significant role in shaping his growth as a musician.

Teephlow, who joined Hammer’s Last Two Music Group in 2014 after finishing as the first runner-up in the Next Big Thing in GH Hip-hop competition, said working with the renowned producer offered him much more than an opportunity to make music.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the rapper described the experience as a rare privilege, highlighting the level of guidance, understanding and passion he benefited from during their time together.

“The experience was amazing. I think that is one of the biggest privileges I’ve had in my journey in terms of the quality of the ear I had around me, and not just the ear, the heart, because the heart is where the passion lies,” he said.

According to Teephlow, Hammer’s influence extended beyond music production, as the celebrated producer also helped him develop his songwriting abilities and build a stronger sense of discipline in his craft.

He explained that although their agreement was mainly a management arrangement rather than a traditional record deal, he was more interested in the opportunity to learn from someone with extensive experience in the music industry.

The rapper noted that some musicians are introduced to the industry, given the opportunity to release songs and eventually left to find their own way. His experience, however, was different, as working with Hammer exposed him to valuable knowledge and practical lessons about the profession.

Teephlow added that the impact of the mentorship continues to reflect in his music, even when he is no longer physically around the producer.

“My pen game is at a certain level because of the experiences I had with Hammer. I don’t just think of the first thing and say it,” he added.
